About Poonam

Poonam has nearly 25 years’ experience and has developed a comprehensive expertise in leadership, operations management, and transformation. Her career trajectory reflects a blend of strategic thinking, operational efficiency, and a commitment to people-centric business growth. 

She began her career in 2001 as a Junior Legal Executive at Sanne (formerly IFS Ltd), gaining a solid foundation in legal and corporate services. Her career trajectory took a significant turn in 2003 when she joined Rogers and Company Limited, as Company Secretary for the Group. After five successful years, Poonam transitioned to the Global Business Sector with Mauritius International Trust Company Limited, where she spent 15 years advancing through roles from Manager of Corporate Services to Head of Operations and ultimately Chief Operating Officer. In 2023, Poonam joined Ocorian to lead the development and enhancement of the People Supply Chain function within its Mauritius Capability Centre. Her contributions included the design and execution of strategic people processes to optimize organizational performance, and foster capability building. 

At Oak, Poonam plays a pivotal role in driving the Group’s strategic goals focused on growth, operational excellence, and innovation. With a commitment to people-centric strategies, she leads initiatives that align with Oak's mission to create a unique value proposition for clients and employees alike. Poonam’s leadership aims to cultivate an environment where operational efficiency and cutting-edge solutions are at the forefront of the Group's success.

Poonam holds a BA in Law and Management, and she is an Associate of ICSA as well as a STEP Member. Additionally, she holds a Certificate in Fintech: Innovation and Transformation in the Financial Sector from the National University of Singapore and a Certificate in Leadership from HEC Paris Executive Education in 2020.

Outside of work

Outside of her professional life, Poonam is a passionate mentor and community advocate. She has established a Young Leaders group where she mentors teenagers and young adults, helping them build leadership skills and navigate their personal growth. As a mother of two daughters, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and finds fulfillment in enabling the growth of others—both within her professional sphere and in the broader community.
