At Oak we know how important it is to nurture future leaders which is why welcomed three students from the IoD shadowing scheme to Oak Guernsey this summer.
The IoD provides a unique opportunity for sixth-form students to learn about leadership through an onsite placement, observing first-hand how to motivate, advise, and support the people around them.
This year, we welcomed three brilliant students, Josh, Harry and Ella who shadowed Joe Woodward, James Tracey, and Oliver De la Fosse who were very happy to share their knowledge and industry insights throughout the week.
They said:
"I had a wonderful time this week shadowing James Tracey as part of the IoD Leadership Shadowing Scheme. It has been an incredibly worthwhile experience and has given me valuable insight into the strategic decision-making, communication skills, and responsibilities that come with a managerial role. Thank you, Oak!" - Josh
‘I did my Institute of Directors (IoD) leadership shadowing with at Oliver de la Fosse at Oak Group. It was a great introduction to the finance world. Much appreciated, I really learnt a lot.’ - Harry
'I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oak, everyone was so welcoming and kind. I found my time shadowing Joe to be very informative and I feel like I have learnt a lot about management dynamics within a real-world working environment. Thank you so much for having me.' - Ella
Oliver De la Fosse said: " When we approached about the management shadowing scheme this year and whether we would be willing to participate, I didn't hesitate to say yes and we took three students. We decided early on we wouldn't hold anything back from them, and as a result they sat in one some very commercially and strategically focused meetings. They all did brilliantly, it was a privilege to have them with us, and I really hope it gave them some of the business and management insight the scheme aims for."
Here at Oak, we are proud to be a part of this programme, designed to not only allow these young students to learn from us but also remind ourselves of our responsibility to shape future leaders.
